The Game Dinners at The Bear

There is something very special, even romantic, about the tradition surrounding British game that seems to take us back to our roots. The fact that these creatures were born in the wild and live in the wild so close to where we dwell, creates a special bond between us and our food. In Oxfordshire and most definitely in all the fields surrounding our Cumnor home, commencing every autumn, there is a veritable plethora of wildlife on offer.

In recognition of this fact, during the game season, The Bear and Ragged Staff has launched a series of monthly game dinners which will take place on the last Wednesday of each month and run through to the following Saturday. As far as possible, we will try to put English game on our menus, however, at certain times of the year, especially in the summer, it is difficult to find local game, well, legally at least. We therefore feature slightly more exotic foreign meats such as Camel, Barracuda, Kangaroo to make up for the lack of local produce. Ylou will find an attachment close by for our latest offering.
